In today’s entry, I challenge myself to let go of my bulky makeup items and keep everything straightforward and light. Grabbing this cute little black Rubi coin purse I got from this hip Australian fashion brand, Cotton On, I’ll see if it can be done.
I actually have two of these coin purses, but I hold the other one responsible for all my cards and cash. Since I don’t have too many cards and cash, I figured this extra black purse might be useful for something else – kikay kit, perhaps? This glossy textured purse comes with a golden zipper pull labeled ‘rubi’, and measures about 4″x6″, which makes it a lot smaller than my mobile phone. So the question is, can it hold in my makeup essentials? Let’s find out.
I went to my makeup stash to pick my staple beauty items. As with anything, size matters. In which case, the smaller and cuter, the better.
I begin with two of my favourite beauty tools: my Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush and my Hello Kitty Mirror and Comb set, which I received as a souvenir from Japan. For an on-the-go individual like me, a mirror and a multi-purpose makeup brush are things I swear I can’t leave home without.
To keep me looking fresh and on-fleek all day, I stick to my Palladio Rice Powder (in RPO3 Natural). I love how it comes with a puff so I don’t need to bring extra sponges with me. I normally use it as a setting powder; but the packaging can be quite bulky and messy though. It does the job, nonetheless. I’m also loving my Maybelline Fashion Brow 3D Brow and Nose Palette, which I highly recommend to those who want to achieve that perfect pair of brows. In most days, I use its powder palettes to contour my eyes, cheeks, and my small nose. But whenever I feel like making a sheen – scene, rather – I’d go for Revlon’s Make a Sheen Lustrous Shadow (in 860 Express’o Yourself). To be honest, I am not so big on highlighting, especially since my face oils up faster, but a little sheen here and there wouldn’t hurt anybody, right?
These three babies are my top favourites. I bring this sample version of Estee Lauder “Pleasures” fragrance everywhere I go. Unlike my other fragrances, I only need a few spritzes of this and the scent will last the entire day. When it comes to prepping my face, I’d normally skip the primer, but in occasions where needing to wear makeup longer is a must, I stick to this mini version of the Porefessional Primer by Benefit. A little goes a long way with this product. My last but not definitely not the least go-to beauty item is my MAC lippie (in the shade Matte Diva). On days where I want to keep my makeup game simple, I can never go wrong with this bold shade of red to amplify my look.
Again, I walk you through all of these featured items:
- Rubi Coin Purse
- Palladio Rice Powder
- Benefit the Porefessional Primer
- Estee Lauder Pleasures
- Revlon Make a Sheen
- Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush
- MAC Divine Matte
- Maybelline Fashion Brow
- Hello Kitty Mirror and Comb Set
Will I win this challenge? Give me a minute.
I believe there is an art to organising your items. Call it a talent or skill. I have lots of friends who have a knack for it. Either you have it, or you’ll need a coin purse version of Mary Poppins’ infamous carpet bag.
What a challenge…It’s like solving a complicated puzzle.
Hooray! It took me five minutes to cram everything in. Once I figured out a way to fit everything perfectly, it’s as if I’ve won the lottery. I guess I won’t be needing Mary Poppins’ coin purse after all. Haha.
That’s it. I hope your week’s off to an amazing start. See you on my next blog entry.
